3d web viewers now online

I've doubled down on all the 3d file viewers by creating web versions of the popular ones... ! So if you're looking for a super simple and quick online 3mf or STL file viewer, then look no further - just drop your file in and have a quick view of it.

There's no upload or anything so it's all good.

And if you're on Mac, then be sure to check out my range of Finder extensions to do this natively on your computer!

Finally!

My Digital Services Act agreement thingo with Apple - i.e., the thing that allows me to distribute my apps in the 27 European app stores - has finally - and I do mean FINALLY come through... it's taken nearly 8 weeks but it is there.

SO that means all apps should now be available! HURRAH!

To celebrate, for the next week, if you want any of them, drop me a note and I'll send you a code!

All apps now live on the Mac App Store!

Huge amount of effort has gone in to this but what started as 3MF Viewer (only) has now turned in to 18 different apps, all of which are now available for download either here or on the Mac App Store.

Quite bonkers, really.

More software updates

Whew, things are moving fast. So 3MF Viewer is now live on the Mac App Store and I've got a few more lined up to join it. The 3D File Viewers suite has been expanded to support MagicaVoxel (.vox) and the DXF format.

On a similar vein, I've started publishing some dataset viewers for macOS - starting with a fast SQLite viewer, and expanded to include Microsoft Access db as well as GeoPackage (.gpkg). Ready for download from here and hopefully on the Mac App Store soon.

Note: I have removed the Combined 3D File viewer from this site - it is now only available from the Mac App Store - this is mainly because it is getting updated regularly (new formats, bug fixes etc.) and so distributing via the App Store is the best way. The small fee does help keep me creating, though!

As ever, feedback, comments and feature requests are warmly received.

3d file apps update!

Some updates have been made! The basic mesh viewer is now at v1.1 with support for USDZ added.

Have created new viewers to cover the Voxel (.vox) file type and DXF files.

All uploaded, signed and ready for use. They will be going to the Mac App Store in due course.

All apps re-signed

So the apps may have been missing the signing - they should all now work!

Mesh Viewer is now on Mac App Store!

Quick news - the first of the 3d file viewers is now live on the App Store. Pretty exciting… so far it’s just Mesh viewer - simple replacement for stl, obj and ply files - all others are in review… and will hopefully get there soon.

You can check it out [here](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/better-mesh-viewer-stl-obj-ply/id6790114764 ) or download the files directly from here.

Enjoy (and all feedback welcomed!)

3d file viewers for macOS

I've added support for more file formats as well as a single app that combines all formats, and these are now available for download.

These are Finder extensions and native macOS apps that enable Quick Look for the following file types:

  • 3MF Viewer (where it all started)
  • G-Code Viewer
  • General mesh viewer (improved viewer for STL/OBJ/PLY files)
  • GLB / gLTF viewer

Features

  • Native integration with macOS Finder, supports Quick Look and open in viewer
  • Rotate and orbit the model
  • Zoom in and out using pinch gestures
  • Optimised for large files, all load quickly
  • Should respect any colour info specified in the file
  • Toggle shader on / off to adjust the lighting based on the type of model
  • 100% on-device. No accounts, no tracking, never connects to the internet
